Site Manager, Nick Austin recently accompanied a group of year 9 students from Ken Stimpson School on a trip to Ypres, Belgium. Here they visited the site of the three battles of Ypres held during World War 1 (1914-1918). Nick Austin; a keen historian himself, shared his passion for the subject with the students.
"It is such a misunderstood war and to misunderstand it does not do justice to those who were killed or destroyed by it. I'm afraid I get a bit evangelistic about this subject and feel if I could just pass on some understanding of what happened and of the sacrifices made I will have achieved something".
He added, "I think I helped give some impact to the visit’. On return Ken Stimpson School students presented Nick Austin with a gift voucher, card and letter to thank him for the time that he had spent with them.
